Pour mettre en contexte l’histoire qu’il va suivre, il est bon de préciser que j’ai été invité par Guillaume et Nicolas (NVI) à rencontrer l’équipe de Molson Dry il y a quelques semaines. Leur objectif était de prendre le pouls des blogueurs suite à un premier contact quelque peu manqué.
Deux conclusions ont marqué nos échanges : si vous voulez que les blogueurs parlent de vous, rentrez dans la communauté ; les blogueurs sont prêts à être achetés. La preuve en image avec l’histoire que je vais raconter et qui est uniquement motivée par l’appât du gain : une soirée privée sur le toit de la brasserie Moslon en compagnie de blogueurs et amis.
Rencontre du 3e type
Mercredi 10 janvier 2007. Le Yulblog, LA rencontre des blogueurs de Montréal, avait pris une semaine de retard par rapport au calendrier mis en place 7 ans auparavant. De souvenir, Patrick Tanguay expliquait qu’il fallait encore récupérer de la soirée de Nouvel An, et que 7 jours étaient nécessaires pour bien reprendre le rythme yulbloguesque.
Fraîchement débarqué sur le nouveau continent, j’assistais à ma première soirée en tant que “résident ” du pays. À peine avais-je fait quelques pas dans la Quincaillerie, que les effluves de houblon me piquèrent le nez. Au comptoir, le joli minois d’une blonde me suggéra de déguster une rousse, ou peut-être l’inverse.
Armée de ma pinte, j’avançais vers la large table en bois massif qui donnait sur la baie vitrée de la bâtisse. À travers la lumière qui éclairait faiblement les visages des convives, j’aperçus un sourire qui venait dans ma direction. Entre une casquette et une barbe mal arrangée, une voix fort sympathique déclama un “Moi c’est Jean-Luc”. Dans la foulée, il me présenta Gab et SP4M avec qui j’ai passé l’essentiel de la soirée.
Avec l’aide de quelques bières, je me découvris pas mal de points en commun avec ces geeks d’un autre âge. Je ne peux imaginer d’autre endroit pour avoir une discussion soutenue sur les IRC et le bon vieux temps de Mygale. La preuve en image…
Cette première “party” à Montréal est pour moi à double titre mémorable. Tout d’abord, pour les personnes que j’ai rencontrées et avec qui je me suis lié d’amitié. Ensuite, pour la vidéo sur le Web. Puisque ce soir-là , j’ai inauguré la première vidéo du Yulblog, que depuis je répète tous les mois sans cesse, et qui par la force des choses est devenu mon gagne-pain (la vidéo, pas le Yulblog). Merci les gars de m’avoir permis de rentrer dans votre gang 
Au fait, la soirée c’est fini autour d’une poutine à la Banquise, LA poutinerie de Montréal où l’on croise bon nombre de blogueurs. Mais c’est une autre histoire…
PS: Ça me ferait plaisir d’avoir Christophe/Isabelle, Jean-Philippe, Marie-Jo, Vincent, Ian et Katheline à la soirée de l’APP.
Ce n’était pas mieux avant, mais ça illustre bien la vie d’un phénomène, Web. Moi aussi dans les années 90 j’ircait, j’allait à des GT à Montréal et Québec, et je me suis forgé un réseau d’amis (et j’ai même trouvé ma femme grâce à ça!). Mais la technologie évolue, et les groupes sociaux naissent et meurent avec. C’est comme pour les “newsgroup” avant l’IRC. Et éventuellement les blogues et Facebook et MySpace peut-être?
