Que pensent les Canadiens de la pendaison de Saddam Hussein ? Il existe une réelle différence de traitement de l’information par les médias anglophone et francophone du Canada.
Selon les nouvelles sur CBC et Radio Canada, la guerre en Irak et en Afghanistan, ainsi que la participation des troupes canadiennes à ce conflit, ne sont pas vue de la même façon. Pourtant, ces deux TV font partie 
du même groupe de médias public national du Canada.
Certains journalistes vont parler d’événements, d’autres de guerre, et moins souvent ils vont utiliser le terme “guerre civile “. Au-delà, de la traduction entre l’anglais et le français, l’utilisation de ces mots à toute son importance. Selon le cas, il justifie plus ou moins l’intervention de la “coalition” contre “l’axe du mal“, dirigée par les États-Unis.
Ainsi, la mise à mort… ou plutôt l’exécution de Saddam Huseim n’a pas eu le même traitement sur les différentes chaînes de télévision canadiennes. Pour les plus optimistes, il s’agissait d’une chose formidable pour l’Irak. D’autres, plus choqués, ont souligné qu’il était difficile de promouvoir la paix et la liberté à travers l’exécution d’un homme, aussi mauvais soit-il.
Suite à l’annonce de la mort de Saddam Hussein, le débat sur la peine de mort a fait couler beaucoup d’encre électronique. Pour Brem, c’est un bon débarras qui trônait en tête de son blog, réagissant à la missive de Blork qui prenait position contre la peine de mort.
Plus largement, nous pouvons nous poser la question de l’influence des médias états-uniens . Les voisins d’en bas alimentent largement le Canada à coup de Fox News et de CNN. À votre avis, ça a-t-il la moindre incidence sur les choix éditoriaux des médias canadiens ?
Pour Coudu, rien n’est innocent dans la prise de position des télévisions anglophone. La position de la France a-t-elle avoir le même effet sur les télévisions francophones du Canada ?
