Congorama est sorti en salle le 26 octobre 2006. Quatre mois après, le film prend un second souffle suite aux 5 Prix Jutra gagnés pour le meilleur film, la meilleure réalisation, le meilleur scénario, le meilleur acteur et le meilleur acteur de soutien. Ouf !
Philippe Falardeau est le réalisateur de ce film aussi décalé que réussi. Pour son dernier long métrage, il a misé sur une valeur sûre du cinéma québécois, Paul Ahmarani. Il faut dire qu’ils se connaissent bien. Paul avait déjà joué dans un autre excellent film de Philippe, “La moitié gauche du frigo” (à voir dans un prochain article).
En 1h45 et pour quelques dollars, vous aurez le plaisir de voir : un inventeur, un gemmologue, un enfant, un écrivain, un curé, un émeu, une voiture électrique, un diamant, deux expositions universelles, deux frères… le tout à travers trois pays, le Congo, le Québec et la Belgique.
Congarama est sorti depuis plus de 20 semaines, et un samedi soir, il remplit encore la salle d’un cinéma du centre de Montréal. Rares sont les films qui tiennent aussi bien l’affiche. Celui-ci pourrait attester, pour le cinéma, la théorie de la longue traîne de Chris Anderson.
